WHO ARE OUR MEMBERS?
Our members are composed of journalists, publishers and media practitioners including correspondents, and columnists of newspapers, magazines and the Internet; Broadcast media owners, managers, producers, directors, writers and production staff; advertising representatives of media organizations; public relations and communications professionals. They can join as Regular Members – with voting rights.
Associate Members are those engaged in business and the professions who are supportive of the objectives and mission of the Press Club, as well as students of journalism and allied media disciplines. They have no voting rights.
Honorary Members are past presidents and individuals whom the Press Club have honored due to their outstanding achievements, exemplary service to the community or significant contributions to the causes of Filipino American media. They have no voting rights.
WHEN DO WE MEET?
We meet every 3rd Thursday of each month or at a day that is agreed upon by the board of directors. The venue is designated by the board of directors or according to the general consensus of the members. An executive teleconference meeting can be agreed upon by the officers beforehand in the absence of a meeting venue.
The purpose of the monthly meeting is to address membership affairs and activities; and to discuss current issues and subjects of interest, special guests being invited for this purpose as the need or opportunity arises.
We also meet annually and hold a conference for the purpose of reporting the results of the operations and activities of the Press Club.
WHAT ARE OUR ACTIVITIES?
We conduct forums, symposia and seminars, including “Kapihan” (coffee shop) sessions, on important current events and issues, as well as topics of interest to our members and to the community. We invite speakers who are experts on the topics at hand, as well as government, business and socio-civic-cultural personages whose views or areas of specialization are of interest or are beneficial to our members.
We train, prepare, and assist young people who are interested in the field of media.
We hold special activities to award or give due recognition to outstanding members of the Press Club and the community such as the Torch Bearer Awards and the Plaridel Awards.
We conduct fellowship and social activities for the members and their guests.
MEMBERSHIP DUES AND BENEFITS
Our annual dues are payable the first week of January and delinquent after the end of February. The membership applications are approved by the Board of Directors.
