Activities

Through the years, PAPC has been known for its “Kapihan” which is an informal forum taking on the spin of “over a cup of coffee” conversation which encourages candor and engagement with the community. Also, in the past several years, PAPC has also created two programs that recognize outstanding journalists, and community trailblazers. The Plaridel Awards celebrates excellence in journalism, while The Torch Bearer Awards, honors individuals and journalists that has made considerable impact in the community.

‘The FilAm’ honored with 2 Plaridel awards

‘The FilAm’ won two Plaridel awards for outstanding journalists in the Filipino American media in a ceremony held October 4 at South San Francisco.   Contributing writer Laurel Fantauzzo won first prize in the Youth Voice category for her essay “In the Motherland: Thank you, Manila.” The article is part of a series written when she visited the Philippines last year when she received a writing grant from the Fulbright Fellowship.
